We’re back!

The Progress is returning to Elk Rapids this January as an ad-based monthly publication, maintaining its initial distribution of 2,500 to Elk Rapids and the surrounding communities, with plans to grow.

As always, it is our hope to represent the community to the best of our ability, exercising the highest journalistic standards. Our ad space is limited and will never overwhelm editorial space. Our news coverage will still be in-depth, and will incorporate coverage of meetings, including school board, with additional follow-up interviews for clarification or comment. If you have a news-worthy story or feature idea, please feel free to share.

As always, we’ll offer space for Township and Village news at no charge, and important announcements from Fire & Rescue and the area Police Departments will be free. The paper is offered at no charge as we feel news should be accessible and available to all.

The online component of our paper is up and running at www.elkrapidsprogress.com, however, it will not be fully implemented until the release of our first edition in January 2013.

Each issue will showcase a history segment in support of the Elk Rapids Area Historical Society and their efforts to preserve the unique history of this beautiful region, and readers will once again enjoy other foodie, farm and travel-related features.

At the moment, we’re seeking an office space downtown. If you know of any rentals that are affordable and large enough to meet the needs of a desk or two and a few people, please let us know. Thank you.
